Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning
HVAC Sheet Metal Workers fabricate, install, control, and maintain heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. HVAC Sheet Metal Workers understand how to create a climate in the building or home that is comfortable and safe for living.
Industrial
Industrial Sheet Metal workers install, fabricate, and maintain sheet metal products for dust collectors, ovens, stacks, particulate reclaim systems, paint booths, and much more. Much of your work will be in manufacturing, assembly, and power plants.
Shop Fabrication
Sheet metal workers, sometimes exclusively or in conjunction with field installation work, will fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment such as distilling, brewing, pharmaceutical, dairy, chemical, food and confectionery, and more. Shop work may involve setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend and straighten sheet metal; shaping metal over anvils, blocks, or forms using a hammer; operating soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts; or inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints of burred surfaces.
Architectural
Architectural sheet metal is a combination of technical skills and artistry. As an apprentice, you will specialize in fastening and joining, managing expansion and contraction, sealing, and controlling moisture to ensure the appearance and durability of buildings. You may spend most of your career at large commercial/industrial sites or residential jobs. However, the majority of your work will be outdoors.
HVAC Service
Service Technicians inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair HVAC systems in homes or buildings. Technicians also are responsible for assembling, fastening, and installing metal products.
CAD Detailing
Detailers use a variety of applications and software to create drawings outlining plans for duct fabrication and installation. Sketching plans for projects is also a valuable skill for Detailers to possess. Detailers will also work with a foreperson and other workers to ensure the methods work optimally. In addition, a CAD Detailer works to design systems that produce minimal waste in the building process.
